How We Work to Expand Opportunities for Youth with Special Needs
Partnership Overview
The Kalei Foundation partners with organizations, venues, and program providers that offer inclusive activities designed to support the development and well-being of children with various differences. These partnerships make it possible for families to connect with trusted programs that provide meaningful opportunities in areas such as sports, music, creative arts, and agricultural experiences.
Each partnership organization brings unique expertise and programming that helps children explore their interests, build confidence, and develop important life skills. By working collaboratively with community providers, The Kalei Foundation helps ensure that families have access to programs that are welcoming, supportive, and designed to meet the needs of children with diverse abilities.

Programs Offered By Our Partners
Each partner organization operates independently and may have specific requirements for participation based on the nature of the program.
Families are encouraged to review the information provided by each partner organization to understand the services offered and any program guidelines.
These organizations share our commitment to providing safe, supportive environments where children with special needs can participate in activities that foster creativity, movement, and confidence.
Our Commitment to Safe & Inclusive Programs
Partner Standards & Safety Commitment
The Kalei Foundation is committed to connecting families with programs that provide safe, welcoming, and supportive environments for children with special needs.
We carefully seek out organizations that share our dedication to inclusion, accessibility, and the well-being of every child.
While each partner organization operates independently, The Kalei Foundation works to ensure that programs recommended through our scholarship program align with values that prioritize safety, respect, and positive learning experiences.
Our partners are expected to provide environments that encourage participation, confidence, and personal growth for children of all abilities.

How We Evaluate Our Partner Organizations
Before recommending programs through our scholarship network, The Kalei Foundation seeks to learn about each organization's offerings, programs, infrastructure, and experience working with youth who have diverse abilities.

STEP 1
Program Organization Information Review
We begin by receiving information provided by the organization, including the types of services offered, age groups, program structure, and the overall learning environment.
This helps us understand whether the program aligns with the foundation's mission of expanding opportunities for children with special needs.
STEP 2
Instructor Experience & Program Readiness
We ask partner organizations about their instructors' experience working with children who may have developmental, physical, or neurological differences. Many of our partners already provide inclusive programming or have staff members who are trained to support children with diverse capabilities
Understanding program readiness helps ensure that families are connected with programs that are appropriate for their child's needs.
STEP 3
Program Coordination & Communication
Once a student's application is reviewed and approved, The Kalei Foundation works with partner organizations to confirm program availability, scheduling, and readiness to welcome the student into the activity. In some cases, the Foundation may help facilitate communication between the family and the partner organization to ensure everyone has the information needed to begin the program successfully.
